REELpoetry/HoustonTX 2019 took place on March 22, 23 and 24, 2019, screening more than 50 films, including cinepoetry, documentaries and video from local national and international filmmakers, poets and artists.  U.S. premiers, prize winning films and videos of homegrown performance poets as well as a sold out workshop, a panel discussion, several talks and multiple live poetry performances took place; two works were commissioned.  Friday, March 22 highlighted local talent appearing in 22 videos.  Saturday w as devoted to cinepoetry with a morning workshop, 34 cinepoetry films and a panel discussion featuring international, national and regional filmmakers who attended. Sunday’s focus was on documentaries and live performance, and included two Beat poet documentaries introduced by the MFAH’s Curator of Film and Video.  BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez, a 90 minute documentary was screened twice, once at UH with a talk by Ayokunle Falomo and once at MATCH.
